About the MP3 Tag Editor Online: Title, Artist, Album and Cover Art
Completely free: free account, no credits, no limit. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
The MP3 Tag Editor opens an MP3, reads the tags it already has (title, artist, album, year, genre, track number and the cover art) and lets you change them. Add a JPEG or PNG as the cover, or replace the one that is there, then save: the new MP3 shows the right name and picture in your phone, car stereo, music player and streaming upload.
The tags are read and written on your device, in the browser. The audio itself is copied byte for byte, never decoded or re-encoded, so the sound is exactly as before and a 5 MB song stays a 5 MB song. It reads ID3v2.2, v2.3 and v2.4 tags and the old ID3v1 tag at the end of a file, and saves ID3v2.3 tags, the kind every player understands, plus an ID3v1 tag for old devices.

- ✓Add album art to an MP3 so it shows a cover in your car or phone

Frequently asked questions
Which tags can I edit?
+
Title, artist, album, year, genre, track number and the cover art. Other tags the file already has, such as lyrics, comments or composer, are kept as they are when the file uses ID3v2.3 tags (the most common kind); from ID3v2.4 and v2.2 files the other text fields are kept and the rest is dropped.
What image can I use as the cover?
+
A JPEG or PNG up to 5 MB. A square image of 1000×1000 pixels or less works everywhere; bigger covers only make the file larger.
Does it change the sound quality?
+
No. The audio data is copied exactly as it is; only the tag at the start and end of the file is rewritten.
Why does my old player still show the old title?
+
Some players cache tags. Remove the file from its library and add the new one, or rename the file, and it will read the tags again.
Can I edit the tags of a WAV, M4A or FLAC file?
+
Not here: those formats store tags differently. Convert the file to MP3 with the free Audio Converter first, then tag it.
Is it really free?
+
Yes. It is completely free, with a free account: no limit and no watermark. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
