SongUp AI API

SongUp AI is an AI song maker. With the API, your code, Zapier, Make or n8n can make songs with vocals in 24 languages from a prompt or your own lyrics, and get each finished song's audio. Songs use your account's songs, under the same rules as the website.

API keys

Make a key in Settings → API keys (sign in first). The key is shown once, so copy it then. Send it on every request:

Base URL: https://www.songupai.com/api/v1. Keep keys secret, and revoke a key in Settings if it leaks.

Make a song

POST/songs

JSON body:

prompt (required, up to 1,000 characters): what the song is about, who it is for, the mood or style.
lyrics (optional, up to 3,000 characters): your own words. Needs Pro once a free account's first songs are used.
language (optional): one of the 24 song languages. Leave it out to follow the prompt's language.
music_type (optional): Full Vocal Song, Only Vocals, Nursery Rhymes, Instrumental Beat, Lo-Fi Beats, Cinematic Score, Brand Intro, Short Jingle. Default Full Vocal Song.
style and title (optional).

Send an Idempotency-Key header with any unique string to make retries safe: the same key returns the same song.

The answer is the song with status: "pending" (201). A song takes about a minute. Then poll GET /songs/{id} every 10 to 15 seconds until status is completed (with audio_url) or failed. A failed song costs nothing.

One song at a time per account. A free account with no songs left gets a ready-made song from the SongUp AI library that fits the prompt instead, already completed, with catalog_match: true.

GET/songs?status=completed&limit=25

The account's songs, newest first, including songs made on the website. With status=completed they are ordered by when they finished, which makes it a "new finished song" trigger: poll it and keep the ids you have seen. Also status=pending, failed or any, and since (an ISO 8601 time).

GET/me

The account behind the key: email, plan and songs_left. Use it to test a key.

GET/languages

The song languages and music types POST /songs accepts. No key needed.

Zapier, Make and n8n

Until the SongUp AI apps are listed, use each platform's HTTP step with the header above: Webhooks by Zapier (Custom Request), Make's HTTP → Make a request, or n8n's HTTP Request node. Make the song, wait about a minute, then get it by id.

Ideas: a birthday song for each new contact in a sheet or CRM, a thank-you jingle for each order, a song from each form entry sent by email. To find library songs or audio tools from an AI agent, use the SongUp AI MCP server.

Errors

Errors come back as {"error": {"code": "…", "message": "…"}}.

401	missing_api_key, invalid_api_key	No key, a wrong key or a revoked key.
402	no_songs_left	The account has no songs left.
403	lyrics_need_pro	Songs from your own lyrics need Pro once the free songs are used.
409	song_in_progress	A song for this account is still being made. Wait for it, then try again.
400	prompt_not_allowed	The prompt names an artist or topic SongUp AI cannot make songs about.
429	rate_limited	Too many requests. The Retry-After header says how long to wait.
