Copyright & content reports

Members write lyrics and make songs on SongUp AI, and some of them make those pages public. If a page copies your work or breaks our community guidelines, tell us and we take it down. You do not need an account to report a page.

1. Where to send a report

Email support@songupai.com with the subject line DMCA notice (for a copyright claim) or Report content (for lyrics that attack a person, are sexual, hateful or otherwise break the rules). Our designated agent for copyright notices is the SongUp AI support team at that address.

2. What a copyright notice must contain

So that we can act on it, a notice under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)) needs:

  1. The web address (URL) of every SongUp AI page you are reporting, for example https://www.songupai.com/lyrics/… .
  2. The work you say is copied: its title, writer or owner, and where the original can be seen or heard.
  3. Your name, postal address, email address and, if you have one, phone number.
  4. A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, their agent or the law.
  5. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
  6. Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).

Knowingly misrepresenting that a page infringes your copyright can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).

3. What happens next

  • We answer every complete notice, normally within two business days, and make the reported page private as soon as the notice checks out. The page then returns to the lyrics library index instead of the lyrics.
  • The member who made the page is told which page was removed and why, and receives a copy of the notice without your personal contact details unless the law requires them.
  • Every notice and what was done is kept in our takedown log.

4. Counter-notice and repeat infringers

A member who believes their page was removed by mistake can send a counter-notice to the same address with the page URL, their name, address and phone number, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake or misidentification, and consent to the jurisdiction of their local federal court (or, outside the US, of a competent court). We forward it to the person who reported the page; if they do not tell us within 10 business days that they have filed a court action, the page may be restored.

Accounts that receive three valid copyright notices are closed, and we remove public access to all of their pages.

5. How public pages are checked before they are listed

Every member lyrics page is reviewed by an automated check before it is listed in the lyrics library or in search engines: lyrics that look copied from an existing song, that are only a request to the AI, that are unreadable, or that are unsafe are not listed, and unsafe or copied pages are not shown to the public at all. Songs from the SongUp AI library are written and sung by SongUp AI and belong to no other artist.
