Completely free: use it right away with no sign-up, no card, no credits and no limit. A free account is asked only when you download a file. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
The online Ukulele Tuner listens through your microphone and shows the nearest string, its frequency and how many cents sharp or flat you are. Within ±5 cents it turns green. It works the moment you press Start, with no sign-up.
Soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles share the same standard tuning: G4 C4 E4 A4, with the G string tuned higher than the C (re-entrant, “My Dog Has Fleas”). Pick Low G if your G string is an octave down, D tuning (A D F# B) for the older, brighter tuning, or Baritone (D G B E) for a baritone uke. Tap a string to hear its note.
Pitch is detected on your device. The sound is analysed live and never recorded or sent anywhere.
What you can use it for

Frequently asked questions
How do I tune my ukulele online?
+
Press Start tuning and allow the microphone. Pluck one string at a time and let it ring. If the needle is left of centre, tighten the string (tune up); right of centre, loosen it, until the note turns green.
What are the notes of the ukulele strings?
+
In standard tuning, from the string nearest your face: G4, C4, E4, A4. The G is higher than the C, so the strings don’t go low to high. A common way to remember it is “My Dog Has Fleas”.
Do soprano, concert and tenor ukuleles use the same tuning?
+
Yes, all three use G C E A. The baritone ukulele is different: D G B E, like the top four strings of a guitar. Choose Baritone above for it.
What is low G tuning?
+
The G string is tuned an octave lower (G3), so the four strings go low to high and the uke sounds fuller. It needs a thicker G string; choose Low G above.
How do I tune a ukulele by ear?
+
Tune the A string to a reference note (tap A4 here to hear it). Then press the E string at the 5th fret and match the open A to it; press the C string at the 4th fret and match the open E; press the C string at the 7th fret and match the open G.
Why won’t my new ukulele stay in tune?
+
New nylon strings stretch for a week or two. Tune up to the note, play, and retune often; it settles down.
Does it work on a phone?
+
Yes, in Chrome or Safari. Allow microphone access when asked and hold the ukulele close to the phone.
Is it really free?
+
Yes. It is completely free: use it right away with no sign-up, no limit and no watermark. A free account is asked only when you download a file. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
