How it works
Get a dry vocal
Your own recording or a licensed acapella. Only have the full song? Pull the vocal out with the Acapella Extractor.
Chop it
Choose the vocal and press Chop it. Cuts go where each sound starts; raise Sensitivity for more chops, or cut into equal slices.
Play it
Pads mode: one chop per pad (keys 1–4, Q–R, A–F, Z–V). Keys mode: one chop on every note, like a sampler. A MIDI keyboard works too.
Record and download
Press Record a take, play, stop, then download the take, a single chop or all chops as a ZIP.
About the Vocal Chop Maker: Chop a Vocal and Play It
Completely free: free account, no credits, no limit. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
The Vocal Chop Maker turns an acapella into a playable instrument. It cuts the vocal into up to 16 chops where each new sound starts, or into equal slices, and puts them on pads you play with the screen, the computer keyboard (1–4, Q–R, A–F, Z–V) or a MIDI keyboard.
In Keys mode one chop plays on every note, the way a hardware sampler pitches a sample: higher notes are also faster and shorter, which is the classic vocal-chop sound in house, future bass and hip-hop. Record a take while you play and download it, or save each chop, or all of them as a ZIP for your DAW.
The cuts follow the starts of sounds (onsets), not recognised syllables or words, and you can nudge any chop’s start and end. Everything runs in your browser; the file is never uploaded.
What you can use it for
- ✓Make vocal chops for a house, future bass or hip-hop drop
- ✓Turn a spoken word sample into a rhythmic hook
- ✓Build a sample pack of chops for your DAW
- ✓Play a vocal melody live from a MIDI keyboard

Frequently asked questions
What are vocal chops?
+
Short pieces cut from a vocal, then replayed in a new rhythm or melody, often pitched. They turn a sung or spoken line into a hook that sounds like an instrument.
Can I use a MIDI keyboard?
+
Yes, in browsers with Web MIDI (Chrome and Edge on a computer). In Pads mode notes 36 to 51 play pads 1 to 16, the usual drum-pad layout; in Keys mode middle C plays the chop at its own pitch.
Why does a higher note play faster?
+
Keys mode pitches a chop like a classic sampler, by playing it faster or slower. That is the characteristic chipmunk-to-deep chop sound producers use. For pitch without speed change, use the Pitch Changer first.
Where do I get an acapella?
+
Use one you recorded, a licensed acapella, or pull the vocal out of a song with the Acapella Extractor. Clear any samples of other people’s songs before releasing music.
Can I sell beats with these vocal chops?
+
The tool puts no limit on what you make. What matters is the source: chops of your own voice, a licensed acapella or an original song you made are yours to use. Chops of someone else’s recording need their permission first.
Can I use the chops in FL Studio or Ableton?
+
Yes. Download all chops as a ZIP of WAV (or MP3) files, unzip it and drag the folder into FL Studio, Ableton Live, Logic Pro or any sampler.
Does it work on a phone?
+
Yes. Tap the pads on the screen to play the chops and record a take. A MIDI keyboard needs Chrome or Edge on a computer.
Is it really free?
+
Yes. It is completely free, with a free account: no limit and no watermark. It runs in your browser, so your audio stays on your device.
