I Was Up One Night lyrics

“I was up one night and some weird kid told me, "don't go around making up stories, I know everything about you." I went back home and started to cry and then woke up in the middle of the night and told those kids something they didn't know and I said, "Hey please try not to stare one day I'm gonna be a millionaire. Yeah, a millionaire." Then the next day I went up smiling got my guitar up and wiring then some more came up to me and said, "Don't go trying to be someone's homie everybody knows exactly who you are." And then I said "Hey, Please try not to stare someday i'm gonna be a millionaire. Yeah a millionaire. A millionaire."”

The core message of the song: despite being put down, the speaker maintains a strong belief in their future success and ambition to become a millionaire.
