Nija maṇṭapadi heccisuvudu ātma viśvāsa!

Increases self-confidence on the real stage!

ನಾಟಕಕಾರನ ಮನದ ಕಲ್ಪನೆ,

Nāṭakakārana manada kalpane,

ತಂಡಗೆಲಸದಿ ಮೂಡುವ ಪರಿಕಲ್ಪನೆ!

Taṇḍagelasa di mūḍuva parikalpane!

ತಾನು ತಾನಲ್ಲದೆ ಪಾತ್ರವಾಗಿ ನಿಲ್ಲುವ ಆ ಕ್ಷಣ,

Tānu tānalade pātravāgi nilluva ā kṣaṇa,

ಮರುಕ್ಷಣದಿ ಕಾರುಣ್ಯದ ಕಣ್ಣೀರ ಹರಿಸಿ!

Marukṣaṇadi kāruṇyada kaṇṇīra harisi!

Shedding tears of compassion the next moment!

ಅಕ್ಷಿಗಳಲಿ ಶೃಂಗಾರ, ತುಟಿಯಿಂದ ಹಾಸ್ಯ,

Akṣigaḷali śṛṅgāra, tuṭiyinda hāsya,

Romance in the eyes, humor from the lips,

ಅತ್ಯದ್ಭುತ ವರ್ತನೆಯಿಂದ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುವ ಬೀಭತ್ಸ!

Atyadbhuta vartaneyinda sṛṣṭisuva bībhatsa!

Creating disgust with extraordinary behavior!

ವೀರ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳಿಂದ ಮನೋರಂಜಿಸಿ,

Vīra pātragaḷinda manōranjisi,

Entertaining with heroic roles,

ವಿಶ್ವ ಶಾಂತಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಗೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿ!

Viśva śānti sthāpanege kaijōḍisi!

Joining hands for the establishment of world peace!

ನವರಸಗಳೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬೆರೆತು ಸಂಗೀತ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ,

Navarasagaḷ oṭṭige beretu saṅgīta sāhitya,

Music and literature mingled with the nine emotions,

ಇಂದ್ರಿಯಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀಡುವವು ರಸದೌತಣ!

Indriyagaḷige nīḍuvavu rasada utaṇa!

They offer a feast of emotions to the senses!

ರಂಗಾಯಣದಿ ಮಿಂದ ಅಭಿನಯ,

Raṅgāyaṇadi minda abhinaya,

Acting immersed in the theater,

ನೋಡುಗರ ಕಣ್ಣಿಗೆ ಮಧುರ ಅನುಭವ!

Nōḍugara kaṇṇige madhura anubhava!

A sweet experience for the viewer's eyes!

ನಟನೆಂದರೆ ಕೇವಲ ಲೇಖಕನ ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿಯಲ್ಲ,

Naṭanendare kēvala lēkhakana pātradhāriyalla,

Acting is not just being the author's character,

ಬರೀ ಮೇಲ್ಮೈಯ ಪಾತ್ರಾಭಿನಯವಲ್ಲ!

Barī mēlmaiy pātrābhinayavalla!

It's not just superficial character portrayal!

ಮತ್ತೋರ್ವನ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಲಿ ನೀ ಮಿಂದು,

Mattorvana kalpaneyali nī mindu,

ನಿನ್ನ ನೀ ಮರೆತು, ಇನ್ನೊರ್ವನ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನೆಡೆಗಿನ

Ninna nī maretu, innorvana mattobban eḍegina

Forgetting yourself, you reflect another's feelings

ಭಾವನೆಗಳ ನೀ ಬಿಂಬಿಸಿದೆ, ನಟನೆಯಲ್ಲ ಅದು ಅಭಿವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ!

Bhāvanegaḷa nī bimbiside, naṭaneyalla adu abhivyakti!

towards someone else; that's not acting, it's expression!

ಪರದೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನ ಪಾತ್ರದ ಅವಲೋಕನ,

Paradeya mēlina pātrada avalōkana,

The observation of the character on screen,

ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕನಲಿ ಮೀಟಬೇಕು ಆತ್ಮಾವಲೋಕನ!

Prēkṣakanali mīṭabēku ātmāvalōkana!

ಅಡವಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಸ್ವಾಭಿಮಾನ, ಸಿಗುವುದು ಕೃತಕ ಸನ್ಮಾನ!

Aḍaviṭṭare svābhimāna, siguvudu kṛtaka sanmāna!

If self-respect is mortgaged, artificial honor is gained!

ಹಿರಿಯರ ನೆರಳಡಿ ಗುರುವಿನಡಿ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸಿಸಿ,

Hiriyara neraḷaḍi guruvinaḍi abhyāsisi,

Practice under the shadow of elders, under a guru,

ಜಗವ ಅರಿಯುತ, ಕಲಿಯುತ ಕಲಿಸುತಾ ನೀನಾಗುವೆ ವಿಶ್ವನಾಯಕ!

Jagava ariyuta, kaliyuta kalisutā nīnāguve viśvanāyaka!

Understanding the world, learning and teaching, you will become a world leader!

ಗೆಲುವಿನ ನಶೆಯನು ಕಳಚಿ, ವಿನಮ್ರತೆಯ ಶೇಖರಿಸಿರಿಸಿ,

Geluvina naśeyanu kaḷaci, vinamrateya śēkharisirisi,

Shed the intoxication of victory, accumulate humility,

ಮನೆ ಮನ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಸಮಾಜವ ಸಮತೋಲಿಸಿ ಆಗು ನೀ ವಿಶ್ವಮಾನವ!

Mane mana vṛtti samājva samatōlisi āgu nī viśvamānava!

Balance home, mind, profession, and society, and become a global citizen!

ಸುಲಭದಿ ಸಿಗದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಯಶಸ್ಸು,

Sulabhadi sigadu ellarigū yaśassu,

Success is not easily attained by everyone,

ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ನಟನಾಗಲು ಬೇಕೊಂದು ತಪಸ್ಸು!

Śrēṣṭha naṭanāgalu bēkondu tapassu!

To become a great actor, one needs penance!
