And protect my secret from danger

لا أُعطي اسمي أو مكاني

I don't give my name or my location

لا أفتحُ المجهولَ ثاني

Lā aftaḥu al-majhūla thānī

I don't open the unknown a second time

أستأذنُ الأهلَ الكرامْ

I ask permission from my esteemed parents

كي أعيشَ بأمنٍ وسلامْ

So that I may live in safety and peace

إن جاءني شخصٌ غريبْ

If a strange person comes to me

أو قولُهُ يبدو مريبْ

Aw qawluhu yabdu marīb

Or their words seem suspicious

لا أستجيبُ ولا أُجيبْ

Lā astajību wa-lā ujīb

I don't respond and I don't answer

وأخبرُ الأهلَ القريبْ

Wa-ukhbiru al-ahla al-qarīb

And I inform my close family

لا أجرحُ الناسَ بكلامْ

Lā ajraḥu an-nāsa bi-kalām

I don't hurt people with words

وأصونُ حقَّهمُ باحترامْ

Wa-aṣūnu ḥaqqahum bi-iḥtirām

And I protect their rights with respect

فالكلمةُ الطيّبةُ نورْ

Fa-al-kalimatu aṭ-ṭayyibatu nūr

For a good word is light

تنشرُ المحبّةَ والسرورْ

Tanshuru al-maḥabbata wa-as-surūr

It spreads love and joy
