🎵 الكوبليه الأول

Al-Kūblih Al-Awwal

The First Couplet

يا ليل يا عين.. صلّي ع النبي

Yā layl yā 'ayn.. ṣallī 'ala al-Nabī

Oh night, oh eye.. pray upon the Prophet

زياد حمدان يا جدع.. يا أبو القلب الدهبي

Ziyād Ḥamdān yā gada'.. yā abū al-qalb al-dhahabī

Ziad Hamdan, oh man.. oh owner of the golden heart

مستشار والاسم عالي.. والهيبة ليها مكان

Mustashār wa al-ism 'ālī.. wa al-haybah lahā makān

A counselor with a high name.. and prestige has its place

والأصول في دمه ساكنة.. من زمان يا ابن الأعيان

Wa al-uṣūl fī dammih sākinah.. min zamān yā ibn al-a'yān

And principles dwell in his blood.. since long ago, oh son of nobles

واقف وقفة رجولة.. والخطوة منه باتزان

Wāqif waqfat rujūlah.. wa al-khaṭwah minhu bi-ittizān

Standing with manliness.. and his step is balanced

واللي يعرفه يشهد.. ده كبير المقام والشأن

Wa alladhī ya'rifuh yashhad.. dah kabīr al-maqām wa al-sha'n

And whoever knows him testifies.. he is of high status and importance

مش بالكلام ولا بالمظاهر.. الرجولة فعل وكيان

Mish bi al-kalām wa lā bi al-maẓāhir.. al-rujūlah fi'l wa kayān

Not by words or appearances.. manliness is action and being

والاسم لما يتقال.. نقول المستشار زياد حمدان!

Wa al-ism lammā yuttaqāl.. naqūl al-Mustashār Ziyād Ḥamdān!

And when the name is said.. we say The Counselor Ziad Hamdan!

Al-Lāzimah — al-kull yuraddid!

The Chorus — Everyone repeats!

زياد.. زياد.. يا اسم له هيبة

Ziyād.. Ziyād.. yā ism lah haybah

Ziad.. Ziad.. oh name with prestige

يا ابن الأصول.. يا صاحب الطيبة

Yā ibn al-uṣūl.. yā ṣāḥib al-ṭībah

Oh son of noble origins.. oh owner of kindness

حمدان يا حمدان.. يا عالي المكان

Ḥamdān yā Ḥamdān.. yā 'ālī al-makān

Hamdan, oh Hamdan.. oh of high standing

يا مستشار يا كبير.. يا زياد حمدان!

Yā mustashār yā kabīr.. yā Ziyād Ḥamdān!

Oh Counselor, oh great one.. oh Ziad Hamdan!

أهو جه أهو جه.. نوّر الميدان

Ahū jā ahū jā.. nawwar al-maydān

Here he comes, here he comes.. he lit up the arena

ارفعوا الصوت وقولوا.. عاش زياد حمدان!

Irfa'ū al-ṣawt wa qūlū.. 'āsh Ziyād Ḥamdān!

Raise your voice and say.. long live Ziad Hamdan!

طبلة تدق ومزمار.. والفرحة مالية المكان

Ṭablah tiduq wa mizmār.. wa al-farḥah māliyah al-makān

Drums beat and mizmar.. and joy fills the place

الليلة ليلة الكبار.. والاسم زياد حمدان!

Al-laylah laylat al-kibār.. wa al-ism Ziyād Ḥamdān!

Tonight is the night of the great ones.. and the name is Ziad Hamdan!

Al-Kūblih Al-Thānī — 'alā īqā' sarī'

The Second Couplet — at a fast rhythm

يا مستشار يا غالي.. يا عنوان الوقار

Yā mustashār yā ghālī.. yā 'unwān al-waqār

Oh dear Counselor.. oh epitome of dignity

اسمك وسط الرجالة.. له تقدير واعتبار

Ismak wasṭ al-rijjālah.. lah taqdīr wa i'tibār

Your name among men.. has respect and esteem

كلمتك ليها وزن.. وحضورك كله أمان

Kalimatak lahā wazn.. wa ḥuḍūrak kulluh amān

Your word carries weight.. and your presence is all security

واللي يمشي بالأصول.. ربنا يعلي له الشان

Wa alladhī yamshī bi al-uṣūl.. Rabbunā yu'allī lah al-sha'n

And whoever follows principles.. God raises his status

يا زياد يا ابن حمدان.. يا صاحب الاسم المصون

Yā Ziyād yā ibn Ḥamdān.. yā ṣāḥib al-ism al-maṣūn

Oh Ziad, son of Hamdan.. oh owner of the protected name

ربنا يزيدك رفعة.. ويحقق لك كل الظنون

Rabbunā yazīdak rif'ah.. wa yuḥaqqiq lak kull al-ẓunūn

May God increase your elevation.. and fulfill all your expectations

من نجاح لنجاح.. والخير يزيد كمان

Min najāḥ li-najāḥ.. wa al-khayr yazīd kamān

From success to success.. and goodness increases even more

وتفضل رافع راسك.. يا أصيل يا ابن حمدان!

Wa taḍfal rāfi' rāsak.. yā aṣīl yā ibn Ḥamdān!

And you remain with your head held high.. oh noble one, son of Hamdan!
