Al-ba'd min lakhwah dawa 'ind al-'alam

Some of my brothers are medicine for pain

حطه على جرحك ولاكن اوجعك حاجه

Huttah 'ala jarhak wa lakin awja'ak haja

Put it on your wound, but something hurt you

يجلي كربتك في ضيق ولافي نسم

Yajli kurbatak fi dhayq wa la fi nasam

It relieves your distress in hardship or in ease

مايحسب خساره لمهضابه ومنفاجه

Ma yahsab khasarah li-mahdhabah wa munfajah

He doesn't count loss for the oppressed and the surprised

يمشي على النخوه وهوحافي القدم

Yamshi 'ala al-nakhwah wa huwa hafi al-qadam

He walks with chivalry, even barefoot

مثل الهواء للجسم دي هوه ديم يحتاجه

Mithl al-hawa lil-jism di huwa daym yahtajah

Like air for the body, which it always needs

وباتلقاه اقرب شخص لك وقت الزم

Wa batilqah aqrab shakhs lak waqt al-zam

And you will find him the closest person to you in times of need

بيخارجك من كرب ما تقدر على خراجه

Biyakharijak min karb ma taqdar 'ala kharajih

He will get you out of distress that you cannot escape from

يحافظ عل الكرامه والمبادي والقيم

Yuhafidh 'ala al-karamah wal-mabadi wal-qiyam

He preserves honor, principles, and values

عنده كرامت خوه هي عزه وتواجه

'Indah karamat khuwah hiya 'izzah wa tuwajih

For him, the honor of brotherhood is his pride and confrontation

جعلني مفقده او ذوق حزنه والندم

Ja'alani mafqadah aw dhuq huznah wal-nadam

May I never lose him or taste his sorrow and regret

مالا فقته تمسي العينين ثجاجه

Ma la faqadtah tumsi al-'aynayn thajjajah

If I lose him, my eyes will shed tears

لمسى يشب البرد من كل الخرم

Lamsa yashibb al-bard min kull al-kharam

When evening comes, the cold ignites from every crack

منهوه مثله لاقد السوقات لعاجه

Man huwa mithlah la qad al-suqat la'ajah

Who is like him when the markets are twisted?

ولبعض منهم يمرضك ونته سلم

Wa al-ba'd minhum yumriduk wa inta salim

And some of them make you sick while you are healthy

ون رحت لدكتور ما فيده من علاجه

Wa in ruht lil-duktur ma fih min 'ilajih

And if you go to the doctor, his treatment is useless

يرفع لك السكر وقلبك ينصدم

Yarfa' lak al-sukkar wa qalbik yansadim

He raises your sugar and your heart is shocked

وضغط في شريان قلبك مثل لمواجه

Wa daght fi shuryan qalbik mithl al-mawajah

And pressure in your heart's artery like waves

دي لاحضر في شور خوته ماتلم

Di la hadhar fi shur khuwatah ma talimm

He who, when present in the counsel of brotherhood, does not gather

يعوج القادي ويتمعنا بعواجه

Ya'awij al-qadi wa yatamanna bi-'awajih

He twists the straight path and looks at us with crookedness

وشعفر شملهم ما عد يلايمهم ملم

Wa sha'far shamlahum ma 'ad yulayyimhum malamm

And he scatters their unity, no longer uniting them

كما سفير العلب دي تلعب به افواجه

Kama safir al-'ulab di tal'ab bih afwajih

Like the ambassador of games that factions play with

ان جيت تتقاضا على ذا ما فهم

In ji't tataqadha 'ala dha ma fahim

If you come to settle a dispute with one who doesn't understand

عندك معك ون سارمنك جاب دحراجه

'Indak ma'ak wa in sar minnak jab dahrajah

You have it with you, and if he leaves you, he brings ruin

عجين العيب ماشي عذر له من ينخلم

'Ajeen al-'ayb mashi 'udhr lah min yanakhalim

The dough of fault has no excuse for being spoiled

للعيب في الخباز ماعد فاد رواجه

Lil-'ayb fi al-khabbaz ma 'ad fad rawajih

For the fault in the baker, his promotion is no longer useful

ومن راد اسعاده خذ من الدنيا حكم

Wa man rad is'adah khudh min al-dunya hukm

And whoever wants happiness, take wisdom from life

الباب لاجاء الريح منه خير صناجه

Al-bab la ja' al-reeh minnah khayr sannajah

The door, when the wind comes from it, is better to be closed

العيب في الكاتب ولا هوه في القلم

Al-'ayb fi al-katib wa la huwa fi al-qalam

The fault is in the writer, not in the pen

والكاتب الغلطان في فكره وفي مزاجه

Wal-katib al-ghaltan fi fikrih wa fi mizajih

And the writer is wrong in his thought and his mood

وغلطان الذي واثق ببياع الذمم

Wa ghaltan alladhi wathiq bi-bayya' al-dhimam

And wrong is he who trusts those who sell their consciences

من باع فلةخوه ميبني لك ابراجه

Man ba' falla khuwah ma yabni lak abrajih

He who sold his brother's villa will not build towers for you

واكبر عيب للعملاق تبعه للغزم

Wa akbar 'ayb lil-'imlaq tab'ah lil-ghazm

And the biggest fault for a giant is to follow dwarfs

ولعيب في الرجال لا رايه معا زواجه

Wa la 'ayb fi al-rijal la ra'yih ma'a zawajih

And the fault in a man is if his opinion is with his wife

ولا كبير السن دي هوه محتشم

Wa la kabir al-sinn di huwa muhtashim

And not the elder who is respected

تبرمجه لوباش وصبح سهل برماجه

Tubarmagih law bash wa asbah sahl barmajah

You program him, and he becomes easy to program

ودي ماينخطم بلامس بكره ينخطم

Wa di ma yunkhatim bil-ams bukra yunkhatim

And he who is not reined in yesterday will be reined in tomorrow

بيدات ماتعرف سوا ضربه ولباجه

Bi-yadat ma ta'rif siwa darbah wa labajah

By hands that know nothing but striking and beating
