Yallah bejahak tafheq sawdat al-ghamma

Oh God, by your grace, remove the black cloud of sorrow

العقل راجح وسيل المحبرة سامي

Al-'aql rajih wa sayl al-mihbarah sami

The mind is sound, and the ink of the pen is lofty

ي عيال حبل القطاعة فاسد دمه

Ya 'iyal habl al-qata'ah fasid dammuh

Oh children, the rope of severance has corrupted its blood

مايلّمس الكبد غير الميسم الحامي

Ma yelammis al-kabd ghayr al-meysam al-hami

Nothing touches the liver but the hot branding iron

وأبوكم اللي اْعتلى في عالي القمّه

Wa abukum alladhi i'tala fi 'ali al-qimmah

And your father, who ascended to the highest peak

لابارك الله فالمحمي وبالحامي

La barak Allah fal-mahmi wa bil-hami

May God not bless the protected nor the protector

وأنا أمكم تحفظ الأعراف والذمه

Wa ana ummukom tahfadh al-a'raf wal-dhimmah

And I, your mother, uphold traditions and integrity

وحفظتكم في حشاي وطيّب إحرامي

Wa hafadhtukum fi hashay wa tayyib ihrami

And I protected you in my womb with my good purity

وكلاً مع الوقت عقله للبشر زمه

Wa kullun ma' al-waqt 'aqluh lil-bashar zammah

And everyone, with time, their mind pushes them towards people

وأصبح يقولون واحد بالعرب قامي

Wa asbah yaqulun wahid bil-'arab qami

And they started saying, 'One among the Arabs has risen'

واليوم قلبي كثر بأسبابكم همه

Wal-yawm qalbi kathur bi-asbabikum hammuh

And today my heart is filled with sorrow because of you

لا كثر الله خيرك ي آخر أيامي

La kathar Allah khayrak ya akhir ayyami

May God not increase your goodness, oh last of my days

قطعتوا الرحم سعي لوصلت القمه

Qata'tum al-rahm sa'yan li-wasalt al-qimmah

You cut off kinship, striving to reach the summit

والقمة اللي عليها وصل الأرحامي

Wal-qimmah allati 'alayha wasl al-arhami

But the true summit is where kinship is maintained

العزة اللي طلبتوا مالها همه

Al-'izzah allati talabtum malha hammah

The glory you sought has no worth

أسود سماها عليه الذل مترامي

Aswad samaha 'alayh al-dhull mutarami

Its sky is black, with humiliation spread over it

هجوا على البير والبير الزمن دمه

Hajju 'ala al-bir wal-bir al-zaman dammuh

They rushed to the well, but the well of time is blood

من ورد منكم يبي يصدر وهو ظامي

Man warad minkum yabi yasdur wa huwa dhami

Whoever comes from you to drink will leave thirsty

وأنا عجوزاً يغب العمر وتخمه

Wa ana 'ajuzan yaghib al-'umr wa takhummuh

And I am an old woman, time consumes and overwhelms me

ماباقين ربع ماراحن من أعوامي

Ma baqin rub' ma rahan min a'wami

Only a quarter remains of what has passed from my years

محمود ومحمد الأوجاع ملتمه

Mahmoud wa Mohammed al-awja' multammah

Mahmoud and Mohammed, the pains are gathered

لفوا ع الجرح جرحي للملأ دامي

Laffu 'ala al-jarh jarhi lil-mala' dami

Wrap around the wound, my wound is bleeding for all to see

اليوم صوتي يرد أن قلت لي : يمه

Al-yawm sawti yarudd in qult li: 'Yammah'

بكره تنادي وقبري يحضن أعظامي
