مِنْ بَيْنِ كُلِّ وُجُوهِ الكَوْنِ وَالعَابِرِينَ

Among all the faces of the universe and passersby

أَبْصَرْتُ نُورِي فِي المَدَى.. خَدِيجَة

Abṣartu nūrī fī al-madā.. Khadījah

I saw my light in the distance.. Khadijah

تِلْكَ الَّتِي إِنْ أَقْبَلَتْ بِضَحِكِهَا

Tilka allatī in aqbalat biḍaḥikihā

She, who if she approaches with her laughter

تَتَفَتَّحُ الأَزْهَارُ فِي الطَّرِيقِ

Tatafattaḥu al-azhāru fī al-ṭarīq

Flowers bloom in the path

طُهْرٌ يُعَانِقُ قَلْبَهَا وَمَحَبَّةٌ

Purity embraces her heart and love

تَصْنَعُ مِنَ الأَيَّامِ صُبْحاً رَائِقاً

Makes of the days a clear morning

يَا ذَاتَ العَيْنَيْنِ المُبْتَسِمَتَيْنِ

O owner of the smiling eyes

يَا سِرَّ صَمْتِي وَالسُّرُورُ حَدِيقِي

Yā sirra ṣamtī wa al-surūru ḥadīqī

O secret of my silence, and joy is my garden

فِي عَيْنَيْكِ تَرْقُصُ أَلْفُ نَجْمَةٍ

In your eyes dance a thousand stars

وَتَذُوبُ أَحْزَانِي وَيُمْحَى ضِيقِي

Wa tadhūbu aḥzānī wa yumḥā ḍīqī

And my sorrows melt away, and my distress is erased

إِنِ ابْتَسَمْتِ رَأَيْتُ الفَجْرَ يَبْتَهِجُ

If you smile, I see the dawn rejoice

وَكَأَنَّ لَيْلَ العَالَمِينَ يَفِيقُ

As if the night of all worlds awakens

تَتَسَاءَلُ الأَيَّامُ كَيْفَ أَحْبَبْتُهَا؟

The days wonder how I loved her?

وَكَيْفَ صِرْتُ بِرُوحِهَا مَسْكُوناً؟

Wa kayfa ṣirtu birūḥihā maskūnan?

And how I became inhabited by her soul?

فَأَقُولُ: نَظْرَةُ عَيْنَيْهَا حِكَايَةٌ

So I say: the glance of her eyes is a story

تَرِوِي السَّكِينَةَ لِلْبُيُوتِ حَنُوناً

Tarwī al-sakīnata lil-buyūti ḥanūnan

That tells of tenderness to homes with affection

عَيْنَاهَا عَيْنَانِ إِنْ تَبَسَّمَتَا

Her eyes, eyes that if they smile

صَارَ الوُجُودُ مُخْضَرّاً وَمَأْمُوناً

Existence becomes green and secure

Khadijah, O pulse of the heart and its warmth

يَا أَجْمَلَ النِّعَمِ الَّتِي أَرْجُوهَا

O most beautiful of blessings that I hope for

لَوْ يُجْمَعُ الوَرْدُ الجَمِيلُ بِكُلِّهِ

If all the beautiful roses were gathered

مَا طَالَ ثَغْراً بِالرِّضَا يَكْسُوهَا

Mā ṭāla thaghran bi al-riḍā yaksūhā

They would not reach a mouth that satisfaction clothes

فَاسْلَمِي لِقَلْبِي يَا خَدِيجَةُ دَائِماً

So be safe for my heart, O Khadijah, always

دَامَتْ لِعَيْنَيْكِ الَابْتِسَامَةُ نُوراً

May the smile in your eyes last as a light
