واعظ! کمالِ ترک سے ملتی ہے lyrics

مجنوں نے شہر چھوڑا، تو صحرا بھی چھوڑ دے

Majnu ne shahr chhoṛa, to sahra bhi chhoṛ de

Majnu left the city, then leave the desert too

نظارے کی ہوس ہو تو لیلیٰ بھی چھوڑ دے

Nazzare ki hawas ho to Laila bhi chhoṛ de

If you crave the sight, then leave Laila too

واعظ! کمالِ ترک سے ملتی ہے یاں مراد

Waa'iz! Kamaal-e-tark se milti hai yaan muraad

Preacher! Perfection of renunciation brings fulfillment here

دنیا جو چھوڑ دی ہے تو عقبیٰ بھی چھوڑ دے

Dunya jo chhoṛ di hai to uqba bhi chhoṛ de

If you have abandoned the world, then abandon the afterlife too

تقلید کی روش سے تو بہتر ہے خودکشی

Taqlid ki rawish se to behtar hai khudkushi

Suicide is better than the path of imitation

رستہ بھی ڈھونڈ، خضر کا سودا بھی چھوڑ دے

Rasta bhi dhund, Khizr ka sauda bhi chhoṛ de

Find your own path, and abandon the bargain of Khizr too

مانندِ خامہ تیری زباں پر ہے حرفِ غیر

Manind-e-khama teri zubaan par hai harf-e-ghair

Like a pen, your tongue speaks others' words

بیگانہ شے پہ نازشِ بے جا بھی چھوڑ دے

Begana shai pe nazish-e-beja bhi chhoṛ de

Abandon this undue pride in something alien

واعظ! کمالِ ترک سے ملتی ہے یاں مراد

Waa'iz! Kamaal-e-tark se milti hai yaan muraad

Preacher! Perfection of renunciation brings fulfillment here

دنیا جو چھوڑ دی ہے تو عقبیٰ بھی چھوڑ دے

Dunya jo chhoṛ di hai to uqba bhi chhoṛ de

If you have abandoned the world, then abandon the afterlife too

لطفِ کلام کیا جو نہ ہو دل میں دردِ عشق

Lutf-e-kalaam kya jo na ho dil mein dard-e-ishq

What pleasure is there in speech if there's no pain of love in the heart?

بسمل نہیں ہے تو، تو تڑپنا بھی چھوڑ دے

Bismil nahin hai tu, to taṛapna bhi chhoṛ de

If you are not a sacrifice, then stop writhing too

شبنم کی طرح پھولوں پہ رو، اور چمن سے چل

Shabnam ki tarah phoolon pe ro, aur chaman se chal

Weep on flowers like dew, and leave the garden

اس باغ میں قیام کا سودا بھی چھوڑ دے

Is baagh mein qayaam ka sauda bhi chhoṛ de

Abandon the desire to stay in this garden too

ہے عاشقی میں رسم الگ سب سے بیٹھنا

Hai aashiqi mein rasm alag sab se baiṭhna

In love, the custom is to sit apart from everyone

بت خانہ بھی، حرم بھی، کلیسا بھی چھوڑ دے

But-khana bhi, Haram bhi, Kalisa bhi chhoṛ de

Abandon the idol-temple, the Kaaba, and the church too

سودا گری نہیں، یہ عبادت خدا کی ہے

Sauda-gari nahin, ye ibaadat Khuda ki hai

This is not trade, this is worship of God

اے بے خبر! جزا کی تمنّا بھی چھوڑ دے

Ae be-khabar! Jaza ki tamanna bhi chhoṛ de

O unaware one! Abandon the desire for reward too
