سيدا لم تزل وغيرك زالوا

Sayyidan lam tazal wa ghairuka zaaloo

You remained a master, while others vanished,

وجميعاً إلى جنانك آلوا

Wa jamee'an ila jinanika aaloo

And all of them turned to your gardens.

وكريماً ورحمةً وإماماً

Wa kareeman wa rahmatan wa imaman

And generous, and mercy, and a leader,

وعظيماً وليس فيك يقال

Wa 'atheeman wa laysa feeka yuqal

And great, and nothing can be said about you (that is not great).

عليه الصلاة والسلام

'Alayhi al-salatu wa al-salam

Upon him be prayers and peace.

وتخلل شعاب قلب محب

Wa takhallal shi'ab qalbi muhibb

And penetrate the depths of a lover's heart,

فإذا كنت قلبه فنوال

Fa'itha kunta qalbahu fa nawal

So if you are his heart, then it is a gift.

فإذا الشمس من ضياك خفاء

Fa'itha al-shamsu min diyaaka khafa'

For the sun is hidden by your light,

وإذا الدك بالجليل جبال

Wa itha al-dakku bil-jaleeli jibāl

And if the crushing (of mountains) by the Majestic One is mountains.

عليه الصلاة والسلام

'Alayhi al-salatu wa al-salam

Upon him be prayers and peace.

وأمان بغير حصنك وهم

Wa amanun bighayri hisnika wahm

And safety without your fortress is an illusion,

وهدى غير ما تقول ضلال

Wa hudan ghayru ma taqoolu dalal

And guidance other than what you say is misguidance.

فإذا لم يكن بحصنك أمني

Fa'itha lam yakun bihisnika amnee

So if my safety is not in your fortress,

فإلى من ترى يبث سؤال

Fa'ila man tara yubaththu su'al

Then to whom, do you think, should a question be posed?
