يا قلبُ حُزنًا تملأُكَ نيرانُ الفراقِ

Ya qalbu ḥuznan tamla'uka nīrānu al-firāqi

Oh my heart, sorrow fills you with the fires of separation,

بعدَ رحيلِ الغاليةِ سعود

After the departure of the precious Saud.

يا لوعةَ البُعدِ عن جدةٍ حُبُّها باقي

Oh, the anguish of distance from a grandmother whose love remains,

فقدنا سعود، كانت لنا نبعَ الجود

We lost Saud, she was a spring of generosity for us.

يومٌ مضى، كلمتها وشوقي بي لا يُطاق

Yawmun maḍā, kallamtuhā wa shawqī bī lā yuṭāq

A day passed, I spoke to her and my longing was unbearable,

قالت روحي فداكَ يا نسلَ الأجداد

Qālat rūḥī fidāka ya nasla al-ajdād

She said, 'My soul is sacrificed for you, oh descendant of ancestors.'

تلكَ الكريمةُ والرحيمةُ، كم كانت لي رفاق

Tilka al-karīmatu wa al-raḥīmatu, kam kānat lī rifāq

That generous and merciful one, how many times was she my companion?

منذُ الصغرِ، دربي بها كانَ سداد

Munthu al-ṣighari, darbī bihā kāna sadād

Since childhood, my path with her was righteous.

لم تُغضبني يومًا، لا لحظةً ولا بعضَ الدقائقِ

She never angered me, not for a moment, nor for a few minutes,

كيفَ أنساها وهي روحي، ورفيقةُ الفؤادِ

Kayfa ansāhā wa hiya rūḥī, wa rafīqatu al-fu'ād

How can I forget her when she is my soul, and the companion of my heart?

منذُ أن رأيتُ الخبرَ، وقلبي كالصواعقِ

Since I saw the news, my heart is like thunderbolts,

يشتعلُ، يحترقُ، لا يعرفُ معنى الرقادِ

It ignites, burns, knows no meaning of rest.

آهٍ يا قلبي، تتألمُ ولكَ كلُّ الحقوقِ

Āhin ya qalbī, tata'allamu wa laka kullu al-ḥuqūq

Ah, my heart, you suffer and you have all rights,

وأنتِ يا عيني، دموعكِ تجري على الخدودِ

And you, my eyes, your tears flow on the cheeks.

وأنتَ يا فكري، شاركني إن كنتَ صدوقِ

Wa anta ya fikrī, shāriknī in kunta ṣadūq

And you, my mind, share with me if you are truthful,

في حزننا على فقيدةِ بيتنا، الجدةِ سعود

In our sorrow for the lost one of our home, Grandmother Saud.

زادَ الألمُ في الصدرِ، وتشققتِ الشقوقُ

Zāda al-alamu fī al-ṣadri, wa tashaqqaqati al-shuqūq

The pain in the chest increased, and cracks appeared,

لا سلوةَ بعدكِ، ولا دواءً يشفي الكبودَ

No solace after you, and no medicine to heal the livers.

يا ربِّ ارحمها واغفر ذنبها يومَ الحقوقِ

Ya Rabbi irḥamhā wa ighfir dhanbahā yawma al-ḥuqūq

Oh Lord, have mercy on her and forgive her sins on the Day of Rights,

وأسكنِ الجدةَ جناتِ الخلدِ يا ربَّ الوجودِ

Wa askini al-jaddata jannāti al-khuldi ya Rabba al-wujūd

And settle Grandmother in the gardens of eternity, oh Lord of existence.

وختامًا، صلوا على الهادي ما أشرقَ الشروقُ

And finally, send blessings upon the Guide as long as the sunrise shines,

على النبيِّ وآلِهِ عددَ ما تمطرُ وتُرعدُ الرعودُ

Upon the Prophet and his family, as many times as rain falls and thunder roars.
