بَرْقٍ سَرَى وَاسْتَبْشِرِي المَدِينَة lyrics

بَرْقٍ سَرَى وَاسْتَبْشِرِي المَدِينَة

Lightning struck, and rejoice, Medina

وْقْلُوبَنَا لِكْ يَا المَدِينَة مَدِينَة

wa qulūbanā lik yā al-madīnah madīnah

And our hearts, for you, O Medina, are indebted

فِي مَسْجِدِ المُخْتَارْ نَلْقَى السَّكِينَة

fī masjidi al-mukhtār nalqá al-sakīnah

In the mosque of the Chosen One, we find tranquility

وْأُحُدٍ وَاقِفْ يَحْكِي شَهَامَة الأَنْصَار

wa uḥudin wāqif yaḥkī shahāmat al-anṣār

And Uhud stands, telling of the bravery of the Ansar

فاصل موسيقي أول جملة وتريّة رشيقة تهيئ الانتقال للنص الوصفي.

fāṣil mūsīqī awwal jumlah watarīyah rashīqah tuhiyyi' al-intiqāl lil-naṣṣ al-waṣfī.

بَرْقٍ سَرَى وَالغَيْمِ جَادَتْ مْزُونَه

barqin sarā wal-ghaymi jādat mzūnah

Lightning struck, and the clouds poured down their rain

مِنْ جُودِ عَبْدِ الله عَسَى الله يَصُونَه

min jūdi 'abdillāh 'asá allāh yaṣūnah

From the generosity of Abdullah, may God protect him

مَكَّة وْطَيْبَة كِلَّهَا فِي عْيُونَه

makkah wa ṭaybah killahā fī 'uyūnah

Mecca and Taybah (Medina) are all in his eyes

مَا تِنْصَرِفْ عَنْهَا يْدَيْنَه وِالأَنْظَار

mā tinṣarif 'anhā ydīnah wal-anẓār

His hands and gaze do not turn away from them

فاصل موسيقي ثانٍ : تصعيد هارموني بنبض إيقاعي مشدود.

fāṣil mūsīqī thānī : taṣ'īd harmūnī bi-nabḍ īqā'ī mashdūd.

Second musical interlude: harmonic escalation with a tight rhythmic pulse.

الكوبليه الثاني – صولو منفرد

al-kūblih al-thānī – ṣōlō munfarid

Second couplet – solo

يْزُورَهَا مَا بَيْنَ فَيْنَة وْفَيْنَة

yzūrahā mā bayna fīnah wa fīnah

He visits her from time to time

وِإِنْ رَاحِ يَبْقَى لِلْمَشَاعِرْ حَنِينَه

wa in rāḥ yabqá lil-mashā'ir ḥanīnah

And if he leaves, a longing remains for the feelings

يَا الله تْطَوِّلْ بِالسَّلَامَة سْنِينَه

yā allāh tṭawwil bil-salāmah snīnah

Oh God, prolong his years with safety

يَسْلَى بْهَا الخَاطِرْ وْتَامَنْ بْهَا الدَّار

yaslá bihā al-khāṭir wa ta'man bihā al-dār

So the heart is comforted by her, and the home is safe with her

i'ādat al-kūblih al-thānī – al-kūrāl al-jamā'ī

Repeat of the second couplet – collective chorus
